Where are you seeing the bounce?
To help you troubleshoot, we first need to know how you were alerted to the delivery problem.
Needs Attention folder
You see a "Bounced" label on a conversation in your mailbox's Needs Attention folder.
Email notification
The recipient's server accepted the email initially, but sent back a bounce report later via email.
How is your inbox sending email?
The way you find the error message depends on your outgoing email settings.
Not sure? Check your Outgoing Email settings.
Reading a Delivery Report
Delivery reports can look complicated, but you only need to look for two things: the email address and the error text.
Look for lines starting with:
Final-Recipient:
Status:
Diagnostic-Code:
smtp;550 (or other numbers like 554, 450)
Once you've found the error text (e.g. "550 5.1.1 The email account that you tried to reach does not exist"), click continue.
Get the Error Details
1. Open the conversation in the Needs Attention folder.
2. Look for the red banner above the thread.
3. Click View details in that banner.
4. Copy the error text shown in the popup and paste it below.
